Miyama Porcelain Houhin

The interior of the Houhin features precision-cut grooves near the spout that act as a sieve. These grooves catch tea leaves while allowing the liquid to pass through, effectively eliminating the need for a separate metal or plastic infuser.

The Houhin is designed for brewing high-grade teas like gyokuro, which are typically steeped at lower temperatures (around 140°F to 160°F). Because the water isn't boiling, the porcelain remains comfortable to hold, though you should always grip it firmly around the body.

With a 140 ml capacity, this pot is perfectly sized for one to two small, concentrated servings. It is specifically engineered for the traditional Japanese method of brewing small amounts of high-quality loose-leaf tea.

These teas benefit from the deep, wide shape of the Houhin, which allows the leaves to fully unfurl and release their complex flavors. The pure white porcelain also provides a neutral backdrop, making it easy to observe the color and clarity of the tea liquor.

Mino-yaki porcelain is durable and easy to maintain. Simply rinse the pot with warm water after each use and allow it to air dry; avoid using harsh detergents that might leave a residue and affect the flavor of future brews.
