The springback mechanism allows the needles to rotate through the coffee bed with consistent pressure and motion. This uniform agitation effectively breaks up clumps and eliminates channeling, which leads to a more even extraction and a noticeably sweeter cup.

The IKAPE V3 is designed to be versatile, offering different needle configurations for 51mm, 54mm, and 58mm baskets. The height is also adjustable, ensuring the needles reach the correct depth for various basket capacities, including 16g, 18g, 20g, and 22g sizes.

The included magnetic dosing funnel is designed to snap securely onto standard portafilter rims. While it is optimized for the IKAPE system, it provides a stable, spill-free environment for most standard espresso baskets during the distribution process.

The needles are made from food-grade materials and are designed for durability. To maintain them, simply rinse the needles under warm water after use to remove any coffee oils and store the tool in the provided base to prevent the needles from bending or sustaining damage.

The needle count is optimized based on the surface area of the basket. The 58mm version uses 9 needles to ensure full coverage of the larger diameter, while the 51mm/54mm versions use 8 needles to prevent overcrowding the smaller basket, which could otherwise cause unnecessary disruption to the coffee bed.
