For the best results, mount the house in a sunny, sheltered spot that is protected from strong winds. Butterflies prefer areas with plenty of nectar-rich flowers nearby, ideally at a height of about 3 to 6 feet off the ground.

The house features two narrow, vertical slots specifically sized for butterflies. These openings are too small for birds to enter, ensuring the butterflies have a safe, undisturbed space to rest.

The house is made of natural pine, which is durable for outdoor use. While it can be left as-is to weather naturally, you can apply a non-toxic, water-based exterior sealant if you want to extend its lifespan against the elements.

You don't need to add anything inside. The house is designed as a shelter rather than a feeder. Simply placing it near native flowering plants or a butterfly garden is the most effective way to encourage them to use it.

While it provides a great shelter during the warmer months, it is primarily designed as a roosting spot for active butterflies. In colder climates, butterflies will typically migrate or hibernate elsewhere, so you can leave it out or store it during the winter if you prefer.
