Chris King ENVE G27

These wheels are purpose-built for gravel riding and bikepacking. The 650B size and 27mm internal rim width are optimized for high-volume tires, providing the extra traction and comfort needed for rough surfaces and long, multi-day adventures.

The 45-point simultaneous engagement in the R45D hubs provides near-instant power transfer when you pedal. This is particularly noticeable during technical climbs or when you need quick acceleration out of corners on loose gravel.

The ENVE G27s use a 12x100mm front and 12x142mm rear axle standard, which is the current industry standard for most modern gravel bikes with disc brakes. They are also tubeless-ready, allowing you to easily run lower pressures for better grip.

Chris King uses precision-machined, heat-treated surgical grade steel bearings that are designed to improve with age. Unlike standard cartridge bearings that wear out and need replacing, these are serviceable and built for extreme longevity.

The 24-spoke option is lighter and offers a slightly more compliant ride, making it a great choice for general gravel riding. If you are a heavier rider or plan on carrying significant weight for bikepacking, the 32-spoke build provides extra durability and lateral stiffness.

While these rims are tubeless-ready, you can certainly run them with tubes if you prefer. However, the rim profile is specifically designed to seat tubeless tires securely, so running them tubeless is highly recommended to take full advantage of the comfort and puncture protection they offer.
