Salsa Beargrease Derailleur Hanger

This hanger is specifically engineered for Salsa Beargrease Carbon models from 2018 and earlier. If you have a newer model or a different frame material, this part will not fit correctly.

Derailleur hangers are designed as sacrificial parts. If your bike takes a hit to the rear derailleur, the hanger is meant to bend or break first to absorb the impact and protect your expensive carbon frame from structural damage.

While it is sometimes possible to temporarily straighten a hanger to finish a ride, it is rarely recommended as a permanent fix. Once the metal has been bent, it loses structural integrity and precision, which will likely result in poor shifting performance.

Replacing a derailleur hanger is a straightforward task that requires only basic tools, typically a hex key. It is a manageable repair to perform trailside, provided you have the correct replacement part on hand.

This product includes the hanger itself. We recommend reusing your existing mounting bolts if they are in good condition, but it is always wise to check them for wear or damage during installation.
