The sasame filter is a built-in ceramic sieve integrated directly into the teapot's spout. Unlike metal mesh strainers that can sometimes impart a metallic taste or clog easily, this ceramic version is designed to handle fine tea leaves smoothly without affecting the flavor profile of your brew.

While the texture is primarily an aesthetic choice that honors traditional Japanese craftsmanship, it also provides a tactile, non-slip grip. This makes the teapot easier to handle, especially when pouring hot tea.

This set includes five teacups, each with a 60 ml capacity. With the teapot holding 340 ml, it is perfectly sized for serving five small, traditional portions of tea, making it ideal for intimate gatherings or solo tea rituals.

Tokoname-yaki clay is porous and can absorb the oils and aromas of the tea you brew over time, which many enthusiasts believe enhances the flavor of future steeps. To maintain it, simply rinse with warm water after use and allow it to air dry completely—avoid using soap, as the clay may absorb the scent.

While the porcelain cups are durable, we recommend hand-washing both the teapot and the cups to preserve their finish and integrity. The delicate nature of the handcrafted materials is best maintained through gentle, manual cleaning.
