Yes. Silk is a natural fiber with excellent thermal properties. It feels cool and breathable in hot, humid weather and provides a surprising amount of insulation to trap body heat when temperatures drop.

While it is designed to fit the contours of a mummy-style sleeping bag, you can certainly use it inside a rectangular bag. Just keep in mind that you will have extra fabric at the foot box and less room to move your legs compared to a rectangular liner.

The liner is machine washable. We recommend using a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and hanging it to air dry, which helps preserve the integrity of the silk fibers over time.

Not at all. The hood is made from the same thin, lightweight silk as the rest of the liner, so it packs down just as small. It adds minimal weight while providing a noticeable benefit in blocking drafts around your head.
