Petzl V Conique Peg

The V Conique is a specialized piton designed for aid climbing and securing protection in rock cracks. It uses a jamming technique to wedge firmly into crevices, providing a reliable anchor point in challenging vertical terrain.

Chromoly steel is chosen for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and durability. The specific heat treatment process Petzl applies ensures the metal resists deformation under significant stress, which is critical for safety when placing protection in hard rock.

The choice depends on the depth and width of the cracks you encounter. The 7cm version is generally better for shallower or tighter placements, while the 11cm length offers more reach and stability in deeper, more irregular cracks.

While it is designed to be placed securely, it is primarily intended as a piece of removable aid climbing gear. However, like all pitons, its ease of removal depends heavily on the rock type and how forcefully it was driven into the crack.

The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. It does not cover normal wear and tear, modifications, or damage resulting from improper storage, accidents, or negligence.
