MSW Chainrings

BCD stands for Bolt Circle Diameter, which is the measurement of the circle formed by the center of your chainring bolts. You can measure this yourself using a ruler or caliper, or check the back of your current chainring, where the BCD is often stamped alongside the tooth count.

These rings are designed for standard multi-speed drivetrains, but compatibility depends on your specific crankset's BCD and the number of speeds your drivetrain uses. Always verify your current crank's BCD and the tooth count range your front derailleur can handle before purchasing.

While these rings are built for multi-speed shifting, they can technically be used for single-speed setups. However, they lack the taller, thicker teeth found on dedicated single-speed chainrings, so you may experience more chain drop if you aren't using a chain guide or a narrow-wide chainring.

You don't necessarily need to replace all of them, but it is often recommended. If your chain is skipping or shifting poorly, replacing the entire set ensures the teeth mesh perfectly with your chain, which extends the lifespan of your new components.

The position refers to where the ring mounts on your crank spider. Outer rings are typically larger and designed for higher gears, while inner rings are smaller and optimized for climbing; middle rings serve as a bridge between the two for smoother shifting transitions.
