Suar wood is a durable, fast-growing tropical hardwood known for its beautiful, interlocking grain patterns and resistance to cracking. It is perfectly safe for food preparation, provided you maintain the board with food-grade mineral oil.

Hand wash the board with warm water and mild soap, then dry it immediately with a towel; never submerge it in water or put it in the dishwasher. To keep the wood from drying out, apply a food-safe mineral oil or beeswax conditioner every few weeks.

While you can technically use it for both, it is best practice to dedicate one side of the board to raw meats and the other to ready-to-eat foods like cheese or bread. If you do use it for meat, ensure you sanitize it thoroughly after each use.
