Matelasse is a weaving technique that creates a raised, quilted effect without actual padding. The Pearl collection feels textured and substantial, offering a sophisticated, dimensional look that adds weight and warmth to your bed without being overly heavy.

The fabric is pre-washed during production specifically to minimize shrinkage. You can expect a consistent fit over time, provided you follow the standard care instructions for Egyptian cotton.

The Pearl collection is primarily a coverlet and bed skirt collection, designed to be used as a top layer. It is not a sheet set, though it pairs beautifully with Matouk’s percale or sateen sheets.

These pieces are machine washable, making them surprisingly low-maintenance for such a luxurious textile. We recommend washing on a gentle cycle with mild detergent and tumble drying on low to preserve the integrity of the matelasse weave.

While a quilt typically consists of three layers stitched together, this matelasse coverlet is a single-layer fabric woven to mimic the look of quilting. It offers a cleaner, more tailored profile that drapes elegantly over the sides of the bed.
