Because the ceramic is unglazed, it is porous and can absorb oils or pigments from highly colored soaps over time. To keep it looking clean, we recommend rinsing it periodically and avoiding soaps with heavy artificial dyes.

The unglazed texture provides a subtle grip that lifts the soap slightly, allowing for better airflow underneath compared to a flat, glazed surface. This helps your bar dry out more efficiently between uses.

At 4.5 inches square, this dish accommodates most standard and many oversized artisan bars comfortably. If you use exceptionally large or oddly shaped specialty soaps, we suggest measuring your bar to ensure it fits within the 4.5-inch footprint.

Since it is unglazed, you can simply scrub the dish with a stiff brush and warm water to remove residue. For deeper cleaning, a paste of baking soda and water works well to lift stubborn soap scum without damaging the material.

The dish has a flat, unglazed base. While the ceramic is smooth, we recommend placing it on a soft surface or using a small silicone mat underneath if you are concerned about potential scratches on delicate stone or glass countertops.
