Johnson Silver Minnow

The Johnson Silver Minnow features a single hook protected by a wire weed guard. This guard prevents the hook point from snagging on lily pads, grass, and submerged timber, allowing the spoon to slide through heavy cover where treble-hook lures would typically get hung up.

While it excels in heavy cover, it is perfectly effective in open water. The reflective finish and erratic action of the spoon attract fish in clear water just as well as it navigates through weeds.

Adding a soft plastic trailer, like a grub or a curly-tail worm, is a common tactic to increase the lure's profile and add extra vibration. It is not required for the lure to work, but it can be a great way to entice more aggressive strikes.

This lure is versatile enough for both slow and fast retrieves. A steady, moderate retrieve usually works best to maintain the spoon's signature wobble, but you can also jig it or vary your speed to trigger strikes from fish holding in deeper pockets.

While it is specifically designed for pike, musky, and bass, the Silver Minnow's profile mimics a general baitfish. You may find success with other predatory species that feed on small baitfish, though it is optimized for the aggressive strikes of the primary target species.
