While the Blink Mini can operate independently, adding a Sync Module 2 is necessary if you want to use local storage via a USB drive. It also helps manage your camera settings more efficiently and allows you to connect up to 10 devices into a single, unified system.

The Sync Module 2 supports USB flash drives up to 256 GB. For the best performance, we recommend using a high-quality, name-brand drive formatted to exFAT or FAT32, as cheaper or older drives may struggle with the constant write cycles of video footage.

Yes, it allows you to save motion clips locally to a USB drive, which eliminates the need for a monthly cloud subscription for those specific cameras. Keep in mind that local storage means you will need to physically remove the drive from the module to view clips on a computer if you prefer not to use the Blink app.
