The Sill Lime Tree

While it thrives outdoors in warmer climates, you can keep it indoors if you have a very bright, sunny spot. It requires significant direct sunlight—ideally near a south-facing window—to produce fruit, so you may need a grow light during darker winter months.

Upon arrival, the tree is between 1 and 2 feet tall. While it can reach up to 12 feet in height if planted in the ground in ideal conditions, keeping it in a container will naturally restrict its size, making it manageable for a patio or indoor space.

This variety is everbearing, meaning it can produce fruit year-round. However, you will typically see peak harvest times in August and December.

It is considered low-maintenance for a citrus tree, but it does have specific needs. Consistent watering, well-draining soil, and plenty of direct sunlight are the keys to keeping it healthy and productive.

If you plan to keep it outdoors year-round, it is hardy in zones 8 through 11. If you live in a colder climate (zones 4-7), you should keep it in a container so you can easily move it indoors when temperatures drop.
