Tōsen Kiln Tokoname Teacup

Tokoname-yaki is one of Japan's six ancient kilns, renowned for its high-quality clay. It is prized in teaware for its durability and the subtle, earthy texture it provides, which often enhances the drinking experience by feeling substantial and balanced in the hand.

The tulip silhouette is designed to nestle comfortably in your palms, allowing you to feel the warmth of the tea without burning your fingers. The slightly flared rim also directs the aroma of the tea toward you as you sip, enhancing the sensory experience.

While the matte finish is beautiful and tactile, it can be more susceptible to tea tannins than a high-gloss glaze. We recommend rinsing the cup promptly after use to maintain its pristine appearance over time.

This cup holds 120 ml, which is a standard size for traditional Japanese tea service. It is perfectly suited for enjoying a concentrated pour of loose-leaf green tea or a small, mindful serving of your favorite brew.

Because this piece is handcrafted using traditional ceramic techniques, we recommend hand washing it with mild soap to preserve the integrity of the glaze and clay. It is not recommended for use in the microwave.
